The Grand Slam Options Trade

Wall Street Wiretapper, an options scanner that tracks down the most unusual trades in the market, alerted us to weird price action in MPW, Medical Properties Trust.

Medical Properties Trust is the leading source of capital for hospitals, so traders should not be surprised to see volatility trade higher as interest rates spikes and inflation soars.

Last Friday, we noticed something in MPW that doesn’t happen often.  MPW showed up on all of our major unusual options scans using Wall Street Wiretapper.

We found MPW in the Open Interest Scan From Sept 23 – Sept 28th.

MPW showed up on the Implied vs Historical scans nearly every day last week.

The Overvalued scans showed MPW each day last week as well.  

Notice how the Implied Volatility jumped from 53 to 69 from Sept 27th to Sept 28th?

Look at the Unusual Volume scans below – 111,644 Options Volume compared to the 20D Avg of just 25,000 Options Trade.
